I'm not what I ought to be. I'm not what I want to be. I'm not what I hope to be. Still I'm not what I used to be. And by the grace of God, I am what I am

Is God's Plan Really Good?

Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. (James 1:16-17 NKJV)

God is our only good source. We must determine in our hearts to believe that there is nothing good for us outside His will. Satan is the master of deception, and he will try to convince you that real goodness is found in disobedience to God’s Word.

You can be disobedient to God in two ways: by doing what He has told you not to do or by not doing what He has told you to do. When you choose to be disobedient, you are telling God that you know better than Him. This is absolutely not true! Never allow human reasoning to override divine direction.

I know that whatever God does, it shall be forever. Nothing can be added to it, and nothing taken from it. God does it, that men should fear before Him. (Ecclesiastes 3:14 NKJV)

God has a purpose and a plan. He knows the beginning from the end. There is nothing that can stop His plan, and this should encourage us. Even if we choose to rebel against His will, we cannot undermine His plan, because He knows what we will do even before we do it. What God wills will be accomplished, whether we participate in His plan or not.

But God does require an account of what is past (see Ecclesiastes 3:15), and He does want us to benefit from partnering with His plan. That is why we must be intentional in our obedience to Him. When God leads, we must follow—and obedience should bring us joy, because all of God’s purposes are perfect and good for us!

Is there any area where the enemy has deceived you into believing it would be better to disobey God? Renew your mind in the truth of your Father’s goodness. Repent and submit that area to Him now.
